Once a carriage house for horses, then the home of a local brick artist, this is one of the most unusual buildings you will find for rent in Athens Ohio, and has long been popular with artists who appreciate its curved and asymmetrical windows and undulating brickwork. Apt, A, updated with a new kitchen, doors, wiring, lighting, and more by the current owner, has a monumental and beautifully overbuilt brick island in the main room, which features a huge expanse of irregular bricks set in the floor in a spectacular circular design, and twin brick fireplaces (for decoration). Irregularly shaped built in mirrors are attached to the wall between the bedrooms (each with Pergo style floors), and part of the ceiling is made from ornate repurposed tin ceiling tiles from a bar in nearby county that was torn down decades ago.
